Safety tips for joining third-party groups
Every group in the JoinLinkHub directory is run by someone else. We collect publicly shared invite links so they are easier to browse, but we do not own, moderate or verify the groups, their members or what they post. Use these checks before and after you join.
Before you join
- Check the link domain. Real invites use
chat.whatsapp.com,t.me,discord.gg/discord.com,facebook.comorreddit.com. Lookalike domains are a red flag. - Think about what you reveal. WhatsApp groups usually expose your phone number to other members.
- Prefer official sources for brands, games and creators: their own website usually links to the real community.
Common scams in public groups
- Investment and trading “signals” promising guaranteed profits, then asking for deposits or “withdrawal fees”.
- Task or job scams that pay small amounts at first, then require you to pay to continue.
- Giveaways and free Nitro / free recharge links that steal logins.
- Verification-code theft: someone asks you to forward a 6-digit code – that code lets them take over your account.
- Fake admins who DM you to “help” and then ask for payment or remote access.
- Modded apps and APK files that contain malware.
- Sextortion: strangers who push for intimate photos or video calls and then threaten to share them.
Golden rules
- Never share passwords, one-time codes, bank or card details.
- Never send money or crypto to someone you met in a group.
- Do not install apps or files shared by strangers.
- Turn on two-step verification in WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Facebook and Reddit.
- If something feels off, leave the group – you can always rejoin later.
Minors and adult content
Many public groups are not moderated for age-appropriate content. Parents should use the parental controls of each app. If you come across content that sexualises minors, report it to the platform and to your national hotline (for example via the INHOPE network) – do not share it.
How to leave and report
